Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your DeepTalk account and account data from inside the DeepTalk app or from this web page.
DeepTalk is operated by Calvin Yap under the brand name DeepTalk. For privacy details, please read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Delete your account in the app
The fastest way to delete your account is through the DeepTalk app:
- Open the DeepTalk app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account.
- Enter your email address and tap Send Code.
- Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to your email.
- After the code is verified, DeepTalk permanently deletes your account and signs you out.
What data is deleted
When your DeepTalk account is deleted, we delete or anonymise the personal data linked to your account, including:
- Your DeepTalk authentication profile and account identifiers.
- Your push notification token, stored on your account profile.
- Synced app settings, including theme and language preferences.
- Custom decks, custom deck descriptions, custom questions, notes, favourites, hidden cards, and checked-card state stored in your account.
- DeepTalk purchase entitlements and purchase records stored in our backend for your account.
What may not be deleted immediately
Some information may remain outside your DeepTalk account deletion for limited or legitimate reasons:
- Google Play or Apple App Store purchase records are controlled by Google or Apple under their own policies.
- Product-analytics events already collected (associated with your account identifier and email) are held by our analytics provider for its standard retention window and are not removed by the in-app account deletion. You may ask us to delete your analytics profile by emailing the address below.
- Support emails, deletion request emails, or legal records may be retained where needed for security, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute handling, or legal compliance.
- Encrypted backups may retain deleted data for a limited period until backup cycles overwrite them.
What you cannot recover if you sign up again
Deleting your DeepTalk account is permanent. If you later create a new DeepTalk account, the following do not come back regardless of which email you sign up with:
- Custom deck content. Your custom decks, custom questions, deck descriptions, and the notes, favourites, hidden state, and checked progress saved against those cards are deleted from our backend and cannot be restored. A restored custom deck slot only re-grants the empty slot, not the deck content that previously occupied it.
- Local session history. Named play sessions and per-session resume state are stored only on your device. They are not deleted by account deletion, but they are also not synced to our backend and cannot be moved to another device.
What you can recover (same-email reclaim only)
If you create a new DeepTalk account using the same email address as the deleted account, your previously-purchased entitlements re-appear automatically the next time you sign in — no tap required. This works regardless of which Google Play account or Apple ID you are currently signed in to, because the recovery is keyed on the verified email address on your DeepTalk account.
- 1 Themed Deck — the specific paid themed deck you originally purchased becomes unlocked again.
- 1 Custom Deck — the slot is re-credited; it materialises as a new empty custom deck row on the homepage. The previous deck's questions, notes, favourites and hidden state stay lost.
- All Themed Deck Bundle — every paid themed deck becomes unlocked again.
- Complete Bundle — every current and future paid themed deck becomes unlocked again, plus one custom deck slot which materialises as a new empty custom deck row on the homepage.
If you create a new DeepTalk account with a different email address than the deleted account — even on the same Google Play account or Apple ID that made the original purchase — your previous purchases cannot be recovered, and tapping Settings → Restore Purchases will show "Nothing to restore". This is intentional: it prevents a different person who happens to share your Google Play account or Apple ID from silently inheriting your purchases.
How refunds work
If Google or Apple issues a refund for a previously purchased product, the corresponding entitlement is removed from your account the next time the App validates that receipt. The exact effect depends on which product was refunded:
- A refunded 1 Themed Deck locks that paid themed deck again.
- A refunded All Themed Deck Bundle locks every paid themed deck the bundle had unlocked.
- A refunded 1 Custom Deck revokes the slot credit, and if you had already created a custom deck against that specific slot, that specific custom deck (the one funded by the refunded slot) is also removed from your account, together with the questions, notes, favourites, hidden state, and checked progress saved against it. Other custom decks you created from different slots are unaffected.
- A refunded Complete Bundle does four things at once: it locks every paid themed deck again, removes the bundle's lifetime promise of access to future paid themed decks (any new paid themed deck released later will no longer auto-unlock for you), revokes the included custom deck slot, and removes the specific custom deck you created from that bundle's slot together with all of its content.
If you later regret the refund and re-purchase the same product, the App treats the new receipt as a fresh purchase and re-grants the entitlement, but the deleted custom deck content does not come back.
